Meet Radiah
Radiah Shabazz, MSW
(she/her)
Radiah brings over a decade of experience in nonprofit strategic communications, anti-oppressive practice, racial justice, and organizational change. Radiah has uniquely bridged her strategic communications expertise and anti-oppressive social work training to implement and advise on communications strategies that broaden the generation and dissemination of content that elevates the intersection of racial justice with climate change, education, health, and affordable housing. She is passionate about using radical and transformative communications strategies to advance racial justice and cultivate Black liberation.
She oversees communications for the People’s Climate Innovation Center, a national organization working to build capacity for and deploy community-driven solutions to climate change rooted in racial justice. Her previous experience includes work at Grounded Solutions Network, the Institute for Sustainable Communities, Start Early (formerly The Ounce of Prevention Fund), On Earth Peace, and the National Housing Conference. Through her consulting business, YasBrook Consulting, Radiah has also supported Social Justice Fund NW, Grounded Solutions Network, Masa Group, and MountainGem Advocacy & Communications, providing strategic oversight, infrastructure, messaging, and day-to-day communications support.
Radiah holds a BA in journalism from Howard University and an MA in social work (MSW equivalent) from the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. Radiah is deeply committed to actualizing liberation and wellness daily and does so through quality time with her family, traveling, watching psychological thrillers and crime television, reading, and writing.
